He was a resident for more than ten years, leading the worship for church services at Tree of Life, singing and playing guitar in the Praise Band, and sometimes leading worship at other churches as well. Now he is pursuing a college degree!

Violence Decreasing in Juarez Posted on February 13, 2013 by Tree of Life
We are happy to report that violence seems to be dropping in Juarez.
According to this article by CNN:
“Statistics from the Chihuahua State Attorney General’s Office show that Juarez ended 2012 with the fewest killings the city has seen since drug-related violence encapsulated it five years ago.
Opinions differ on why the homicide rate has dropped so quickly, but one thing is clear: Juarez is now a city where residents feel safe enough to walk the streets and go out with a relative sense of safety.”
The city’s homicide rate is still twice as high as it was five years ago, but the recent situation seems to be improving. You can read the full article here: http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/05/world/americas/mexico-juarez-killings-drop/index.html
As Kevin reported in his recent blog post, for the first time in a long time, he felt safe enough to visit the taco stand after dark during a visit.
